Boleslaw Bob CHOLYK

CHOLYK, Boleslaw (Bob) Born November 10, 1925 in Spiczyn, Poland, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2011. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Valeria, his loving children, Natalia (John), Robert (Sheila), Alicja (Ron), Aleksandra (Bruce) and Kristyna (Steven). He was also an adoring Dziadzio to his 10 grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Meredith, Michal, Steven, Stephanie, Nikolas, Christopher, Eric, Peter and Paul. A hard-working man, Bob was employed by Canadian Forest Products (Eburne Sawmill) for over 44 years after arriving in Canada in 1947 and eventually settling in Vancouver. An original organic gardener, Bob spent much of his spare time tending his backyard fruit grove and vegetable garden. In addition, a mutual love of travel, saw Bob and Valeria visit many countries over the years, although Hawaii remained their favourite destination. In retirement, Dziadzio's pride in his grandchildren was evidenced by his regular attendance at school performances and athletic endeavours. Despite a debilitating stroke suffered 3 years ago, Bob's positive attitude and affectionate nature made him a cherished resident of Brock Farhni Pavilion. The family gratefully acknowledges the dedication and compassion of all dad's caregivers, nurses and support staff. Prayers will be offered at 7 PM on Monday, November 14th, 2011 at Holy Name Catholic Parish, 4925 Cambie St., Vancouver, where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 Rev. Robert K.L. Wong Celebrant.
