Born in Vancouver, December 3rd, 1956. Cheryl passed away Wednesday, January 16th, 2013 at Laurel Place Hospice in Surrey BC, at the young age of 56. She fought like a warrior for 5 years before losing her battle against ovarian cancer. She will be forever loved and remembered by her daughter Amber, Son-in-law Ian, granddaughters Ava and Eavyn, her brothers Trevor, Grant, and Dale, as well as her partner Amir and an amazing group of other family and friends. Cheryl grew up in East Vancouver, attended Vancouver Technical Secondary School, after which she tried on many different careers before discovering her passion for helping others to help themselves. Cheryl spent almost 20 years working for Douglas College developing, delivering and managing programs to help individuals in labour market transition. Throughout her personal and professional life Cheryl was able to make a difference in the lives of so many people she befriended and worked with. Cheryl loved travelling and enjoyed many cruises and trips with family and friends, she loved to entertain and her house has been the central gathering place for many over the years. Cheryl had a real zest for life, an infectious smile, and will leave us all with many wonderful and lasting memories. A Celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 - 28 Avenue, Surrey. Please also join us after the service for a reception and refreshments where we can share memories and stories. As many know my mom had a love for diamonds, bling, bright colours and anything that sparkled so please join us wearing bright colours, and anything that sparkles and shines. In lieu of flowers, donations to a bursary in Cheryl's name at Douglas College Foundation are preferred. Donations can be made online http:/ /www.douglas.bc.ca/visitors/foundation.html (select the donate now option), by calling 604-777-6176, or forms will be available at the Celebration of Life and cheques / cash accepted (tax receipts will be issued). Condolences may be offered at www.victoryfuneralcentre.ca.
