WAKALUK, David Russell
Born March 27, 1962 in Vancouver, BC. Passed away peacefully on March 27, 2013. Predeceased by mother Mary in 2005 and father Michael in 1973. Survived by brothers Timothy and Ronald; nephews Matthew and Calvin. Beloved Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Nephew, Friend. Dave began his career as an aircraft mechanic working at three companies over nine years. He then found his true calling becoming a Material Damage Estimator with ICBC in 1992. Tragically he was diagnosed with ALS in 2005. He put up a courageous fight over eight years, but sadly he succumbed to the disease. Dave always lived his life to the fullest. He loved this province we all call home and over the years he travelled extensively throughout BC. Dave, you will truly be missed and will live in our hearts forever. Thank you to his cousins Marshall Wasyliw and William Wakaluk. Dave often said he wouldn't have lived as long without William's help to build anything he needed. And a special thank you to his caregiver Darlene Aquino, for her dedication and care over the past six years. Also, thank you to his Palliative Physician, Dr. Alexiadis and the ALS Society of BC for all the equipment loaned to Dave over the past seven years. A Celebration of Dave's Life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Hall, 154 East 10th Ave. Vancouver, BC.
