DYER, Gilbert John
The Guest Book is expired.
Gil's struggle with cancer ended August 5, 2012 at the age of 83. He leaves Pat, his best friend and loving wife of 31 years; 5 children: Patricia and Patrick Barnes, Catherine and Kim White, Sandra and Steve Coomey, Keith McLachlan and Debbie Steenkamp, Kim Clarke; 16 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; plus many relatives throughout the world. Gil was predeceased by his first wife, Mabel Ellen [Dolly], and his infant son, Russel Henry. Gil was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, July 15, 1929, the only child of John Henry [Harry] and Agnes Kerr [Cis] Dyer. Most of Gil's adult life was spent working as a Commercial Artist and Graphic Designer doing commercial art, design, TV and film work. Gil enjoyed golf and was a 25 year member of Seymour Golf Club, two of which he spent on the board. In 1980, Gil married Pat, a teacher with two children. He now had 5 wonderful children. As grandchildren came along, they enjoyed summers with Grandma and Grandpa at Rathtrevor and Roche Lake. Gil was an exceedingly dedicated Grandpa and a remarkable mentor to his family; he was adored and loved so much. Gil and Pat travelled many times to Hawaii and also had a place in Mesa, Arizona where they spent their winters. They eventually settled in Lumby. Gil was an avid fan of hockey and so they divided their time between the Vernon Vipers' games and bus trips to the U.S. There will be a celebration of life at Vernon Golf & Country Club on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers you may send a donation to the charity of your choice.
