BREAULT, Gloria Emily
1932 - 2014
Gloria passed away on May 3 surrounded by love. Beloved sister, devoted auntie, and trusted friend, Gloria is survived by sister June Walchli of North Vancouver, brothers Frank (Donna) and Stanley
of Dawson Creek, two nieces and five nephews, great-nephew and nieces, and many dear friends. Brother-in-law Fred and sister-in-law Mary predeceased her. Her family was her greatest joy, and her passing marks the end of an era for us. Gloria was born in Ft. St. John, BC and grew up in Dawson Creek, the eldest of Edward and Amelia Breault's four children. After graduation from Notre Dame Business College, she went on to a rewarding 47-year career as a secretary, first in Dawson Creek with British Yukon Navigation, and, after moving to Vancouver in 1957, with the Mercantile Bank of Canada, Citibank, and the Pacific Pilotage Authority. Gloria delighted in many holidays in Europe, Canada, and the US, and attending decades of seasons of the Vancouver Opera, Vancouver Playhouse, and Vancouver Symphony where she volunteered after her retirement in 1996. Gloria lived her life with a spirit of generosity and kindness, and her gregarious personality enabled her to make friends everywhere. Please join us to celebrate her life on Monday, May 12 at 3:30pm at Canadian Memorial United Church, 1806 W. 15th Ave., Vancouver, a community central to her life since 1957. A private burial will take place earlier that day at Capilano View Cemetery. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Horner and Maddie Belisley for many years of exceptional care, the home care nurses from Pacific Spirit Health Unit, the staff at South Granville Park Lodge where Gloria lived for the past few weeks, and the compassionate doctors and nurses at Vancouver General Hospital who supported Gloria in her final hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a gift in Gloria's memory to the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, 855 W. 12th Ave., Vancouver, BC, V5Z 1M9 or the Vancouver Symphony Society, 500-833 Seymour St., Vancouver, BC, V6B 0G4.
