A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. John McKay, 90, born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on March 11, 1922, passed away peacefully at his home and entered into eternal peace on Saturday, January 26, 2013. Son of the late John McKay and Lillian Victoria McKay. John is predeceased by his sister Margaret Irene McKellar in 2012. Survived by his wife Rosario, sons Michael, Canek (Judith), Ulises (Rusia), brother Douglas (Guha), brother-in-law Gordon, grandchildren Rachel, Benjamin and Dante, and his dearest friends Jeffrey, Milton and Duncan. John moved to British Columbia in the 1930s. John served in the Canadian Air Force during World War II as a radio operator. Later in life, he was a prominent and successful businessman. John, also known as "Jack" by his family and friends, was a passionate man who enjoyed and loved life. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 7, 2013 at St. Helen's Catholic Church, 3860 Triumph St. Burnaby, BC. Entombment to follow at the South Mausoleum, Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial St. Burnaby, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory to either the SPCA, or BC Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
