June 15, 1917 - December 29, 2012
Our beloved father, grandfather and great- grandfather, died peacefully in his sleep, December 29, 2012 in Prince George, B.C. Cam was predeceased by his wife Jean Hudon (née McLeod), daughter Louise McConnachie, granddaughter Carrie McConnachie and son Norman Hudon. He is survived by children Tom Hudon, Janine Hudon (Wayne Maksylewich), Marilyn Storie, Joanne MacMillan (Jerry Trendel), Darlene Hudon, Gerry Hudon (Kim Nyugen) and Margaret McClure (Ken McClure); grandchildren Sheena, Kimberly and Jillian, Lesley, Russell and Stuart, Evelyn, Maddy and Aggie, Cam and Justine, Alix, Daisy and Roy and Daniel; and great- grandchildren Hannah, Paisley, Rowan and Ashlynn, Alazahia, Kaleiha and Audrina, Jacob, Sidney and Landon, Lachlan and Callum and Kori. Born to a large French-Canadian family in Zenon Park, Saskatchewan in 1917, Cam left the family farm for BC in 1938 at the age of 21 years. Honest and hardworking, he advanced quickly at any work he undertook. He operated as an independent logging contractor for several years, particularly in the Harrison Lake and Jervis Inlet areas. He met and married his wife Jean McLeod in Vancouver and established a family home in Mission City, B.C. in the early fifties. Always drawn back to his farming roots, Cam maintained a picturesque country farm in nearby Silverdale for his family of eight children to enjoy throughout their young years. In 1969, Cam and Jean moved the family north to a large cattle ranch in Woodpecker, B.C. Enjoying the hardworking, rural life style, Cam operated the cattle ranch for many years, remaining active until this past year at the age of 95. Cam was well known to all for his kind and generous spirit and his great love of children. He will be sorely missed by his large family, his many extended relatives and dear friends. Our thanks and gratitude to the kind staff of the Prince George Hospice House for his exceptional care, with a special thank-you to Chris, who had an uncanny ability to make our Dad laugh. Please forward any donations in Cam's memory to the very worthy Prince George Hospice House Society. A memorial service will be held this coming summer on Cam's birthday, June 15, 2013, at the family ranch.
