ZESS, Joseph Jerald
June 15, 1922 - December 19, 2012
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Joseph at his home in Surrey, BC on December 19, 2012. He has gone to join Dorothy, his loving wife of 51 years who predeceased him in 1997. He is also predeceased by his parents and all five of his siblings. He will be greatly missed by his daughters Linda (Ernie) Cherkas, and Darlene Woodbury (Alexander Towstyka and his family); grandchildren Lisa Cherkas, Jason (Angela) Cherkas, Nathan (Kathryn) Woodbury, Landon (Kimberly) Woodbury; great- grandchildren Aidan, Darian, Nia, Charlie and Alice; as well as extended family and friends. Joseph was a Second World War Veteran, engaged in active service with the Seaforth Highlanders from 1939 to 1945. Upon his return from Europe, he eventually joined the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Local 359, and was a proud and loyal member for 60 years. Joseph was also a member of the Masonic Ancient Light Lodge for many years. A Celebration of Joseph's Life will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Valley View Funeral Home, 14660 72 Avenue, Surrey, BC. Because of Joe's generous and caring nature, in lieu of flowers, his wish would be a donation to a charity of your choice.
