Margaret Josephine Kennedy ("Peggy")

August 16, 1921 - March 19, 2013

Born of William Reid and Sophie Gladstone in Hyder, Alaska, died at

Vancouver General Hospital. Raised by her mother and a beloved nanny,

Peggy learned her sewing skills early. Involved in the struggle for

social justice and equality in her younger days she lived with

generosity and empathy. Graduating from the University of London with

her PhD. in Psychology she spent her working years in the public

health system in London and back here in B.C. Peggy was a devoted

follower of the arts, constant reader and indefatigable traveller.

Many trips to Haida Gwaii and her steadfast support for the artistic

career of her brother Bill maintained her ties to her Haida heritage.

Ravens and Eagles welcome her home.

Predeceased by her husband Melvin Stuart Kennedy, her daughter

Charlotte, and her brothers, Bill and Bob Reid, she is survived by

her son Melvin, and her grandchildren, Reid Maki, Adrian Bartel, Max

and Claire Prokopenko.

A memorial feast will be held on Saturday, April 13. RSVP to, or phone (604)253-4959.
