BROOK, Nora Gladys
Surrounded by her loving family, Nora Gladys Brook passed away peacefully at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Charles in 1991. Nora will be greatly missed by her daughter Sharon, sister Phyllis, sister-in-law Joan, 6 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Nora was born in Regina, SK and came to B.C. in 1934 with her family. In 1942, Nora married her first husband Ronald and settled in South Burnaby, B.C. Nora was a strong and successful business woman spending her early years as an office manager at the Army and Navy Department store in New Westminster, B.C. In 1961, they moved to Langley, B.C., where Nora spent her time working as an accountant at the Langley Municipal Hall. In Nora's retirement, she re-married, to the love of her life, Joseph Charles Brook. Together they opened two souvenir shops along the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, NS. Nora and Joseph shared many hobbies; both having a passion and keen eye for photography. Both were members of the Langley Camera Club and won many awards and accolades for their beautiful work. Nora was also an avid gardener, accomplished knitter and enjoyed making crafts. Nora was a beautiful person, a loving mother and grandmother, and a friend to many. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Brookswood Lodge in Surrey, B.C. for the wonderful care provided to Nora and her family during this difficult time. There will be a celebration of Nora's life on Wednesday, January 2, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at the Valley View Funeral Home, Main Chapel, 14660 72nd Avenue, Surrey, B.C.
