Rob was a real competitor. He loved racing.
There are people that did a few events and some did many and then
there was Rob Daniel!
He did them all!
Whether the race was big or small, on the roads or on the trail, the distance
short or long Rob was ready to go.
You could count on Rob being there and he was always was.
For those of us that did many events ourselves it was impossible not
to know Rob.
He was enthusiastic, genial, and also had a smile.
Being a runner and competitor was a big part of how Rob saw himself.
Oh how he loved to be on that start line.
The race is over my friend you can rest in peace now.

The 1st time I actually beat him racing ;)

I too had the pleasure of being on the start line with Rob at every race I ever went in. I was worried at Shaunessy 8k 2017 when he told me that he might have to stop running because of wearing out the knee that took most of his weight. It is so hard not to be able to do what you love so much.
I enjoyed joking around with him. He always pushed hard in every event. I am sorry that he has left us.
Many condolences to his family.

So sorry to hear this sad news. Rob was an "ever-present" at the Gunner Shaw cross-country run that I helped to organise with Lions Gate Road Runners from about 1990 onwards. Come rain or shine, hell or high water (and the water was often very high), I could guarantee that Rob would be there. Reliability does not begin to describe him, and always upbeat. Rob's absence will be a void for many in the running community. I'm sure there are many happy trails for you yet to explore, Rob. You will remain in our thoughts.

I am very sad to hear of my uncle's passing. I met him once when he returned to Leamington a few years ago. We instantly connected. A wonderful man. We did keep in touch but unfortunately lost contact in the last year. My prayers go out to his children and grandchildren.

I was thinking about Rob several days ago ... and stumbled on this totally by chance as I had no idea Rob had died. I also worked for Canada Post and we would share stories about work and our running passion. I will miss Rob's amazing attitude and "what the hell" approach to life.

I am saddened to hear of Rob's passing. Always great fun to run against in my occasional cross country and road races. He was and will be remembered as a great supporter of sport and the value it brings to those who take part.
My thoughts and support to the family and friends.

Rob was always friendly, caring and an incredible inspiration to all who had the pleasure to either know him or witness his tenacity and ability. I could always count on Rob to be at a race no matter the conditions. Ted and I will miss you Rob.

I met Rob back in 86, 87? when we were both running with Pacific Roadrunners Running Club. We ran many training runs and road races together. Rob was always a cheerful person and always greets you with a smile. Over the years, when I have stopped running with the club, I often see Rob at road races wearing the Pacific Roadrunners blue racing singlet, which became more and more faded with the years and the miles. I am glad to have known Rob and shared a few of those miles with him.

Rob was my friend for 18 years. Our lives intersected at Canada Post and also at the many races he loved competing in. Rob thought nothing of driving down to Mount Vernon, Wa.and taking me with him to run a half marathon. He truly loved the camaraderie at races. It was never about time and placing with Rob. Always cheerful. He helped me move to my condo on Jan. 28. It says eveverthing you want to know about Rob. He was a giver who will always be remembered for putting others needs ahead of his own.

I will miss Rob terribly. I met Rob at PRR 32 years ago and was always so happy to see him at races. I consider him a true friend and the loyalist member of PR or ever. He is a lifelong friend and was always so friendly and kind to all. I admired his quiet tenacity

Im very sad today to have read the passing of Rob. Rob and I always chatted at running races, I can't remember a race which I didn't see Rob run in. We only saw each other at races but there were many over the years. Sometimes our conservations were brief others lengthy but we always found time for each other. Im next racing this Saturday and it will be a lonelier start line without Rob's presence

I had the pleasure of running races with Rob for many years before moving to Winnipeg from Vancouver a couple of years ago. We carpooled together to races in places like Whistler and Squamish, where I really got to know Rob well as we talked about everything under the sun on the way there and back. Just a prince of a man, so sorry to hear of his passing. One of my favourite people, I'll miss him always.

He was and always will be as I called him."Rob you Ironman you". It was always a pleasure to chat with him at the races. He also delivered our post office mail in his Big Rig. You will be really missed. You Ironman You....

He was a kind, thoughtful, great friend of my Dads and then became a great friend of mine. I did many great runs with Robby in Vancouver and he truly inspired me and will always be an inspiration to me! He had an amazing way with words and I still have his well thought out cards and will cherish them forever! He was a great listener and encouraged me so much! I am so thankful and lucky to have had a friend like Robby and will miss him dearly!

I am sorry for your loss. I didn't know your father, but have known others who have also chosen to leave and understand the many different emotions and sorrows in those who remain. Thank you for sharing your heartache, as it is through the sharing that we will leave behind the shame and encourage the openness that may prevent others from feeling there is no hope and no other path through the darkness. I pray that you will find comfort in the knowledge that he is at peace and surely knows he was loved.
