Thomas Butler

Thomas Butler - Passed away peacefully on June 25, 2015 in Vancouver at the age of 84. Predeceased by his first wife Annie Teresa. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Catholine Butler, children Kevin Butler and Mary Ann Segarty (Grant), step-children Maura De Freitas (Jose) and Patrick McCay and grandchildren Angela Logan (James), Susie Segarty (Mike), Liam Segarty (Sandra), Teresa Segarty (Chad) and his great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews and many friends in Canada, the U.S.A. and Ireland. Tom's door was always open with a warm welcome for friends and family far and near. He will be remembered for all his volunteer work with the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Vancouver. He also played a key role in the formation of many of the local Irish organizations, particularly the Sons of Erin and later the Vancouver Irish Sporting and Social Club. In his honour, the pre-eminent GAA Western Canada Division men's championship trophy bears his name: The Tom Butler Award. Prayers will be said on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 8:00PM at St. Patrick's Parish, 2881 Main Street, Vancouver, BC, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at 10:30AM., Fr. James Hughes celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations gratefully acknowledged to the Vancouver St. Vincent de Paul Society with the Archdiocese of Vancouver.
