The Guest Book is expired.
Peacefully with his son Barry at his side, Walter, dad, left us to be at rest.
Dad, like a good Irishman, you fought a good fight but you knew it was time to go and be at peace.
Dad will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his son's Barry (Tammy), Sean (Angie), his grandchildren, and his dear special friend Dorothy MacDonald. He was predeceased by his wife Marie Gibson (Donegan) in 2011.
Dad was born in Dublin, Ireland and immigrated to Canada in 1959, living in Toronto, Winnipeg, and Vancouver for the last several years of his life.
Dad loved life, family, friends, stories and a glass. He had many, many friends and acquaintances he developed over the years while living in New Westminster, and he cherished his membership and friends of the International Union of Operating Engineers-Local 115(IUOE). They were so good to dad over the years.
Dad struggled with Parkinson's disease the last several years of his life and spent the remaining years of his life living at the Burnaby Fairhaven Care Home. A very special thank you on the behalf of dad and family to all the staff, nurses, and friends at Fairhaven that got to know dad and cared for him so well the last years. Thank you also to the doctors, nurses and staff at Burnaby General Hospital for their so thoughtful and respectful care.
In keeping with dad's wishes, cremation has taken place. A service of remembrance will take place Monday June 25th at Burnaby Fairhaven Care Home.
A private family internment will take place at a later date.
In dad's memory donations to the Parkinson's Society of British Columbia or Fairhaven United Church Homes is gratefully accepted.
