SHERWOOD, William Lyon (Bill)
Passed away on January 2, 2013, at the age of 78 years. Predeceased by his much-beloved wife, Jan, in 1999, Bill is now survived by his fours sons and their families: Robert (Catrin) and twins Owain and Gwydion; David (Leanne), Abigail, Victoria, and Christopher; John (Susanne), Madeline, Sydney, and Dylan; and youngest son Scott. Bill also leaves behind a much-loved Australian family including sisters-in-law Phyllis and Noreen and many others. Born in Regina to parents Edna (Clarke) and Lyon Sherwood, Bill was raised in Prince Albert, Sask. and Victoria, BC. An Engineer from UBC, Bill worked for Stelco in Hamilton where he met Jan. They moved and raised the family in Vancouver where Bill devoted himself to the steelmaking industry as an entrepreneur, inventor and consultant. Bill was an avid hockey fan, having played semi-professionally in his youth in Victoria and at UBC, and he took a great interest in his sons' sporting pursuits. A remembrance gathering is planned for Saturday, January 12 at John and Susanne's home 3 to 7 p.m. Donations can be made to BC Cancer Foundation.
