Louise MANSON- HING Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Oct. 8, 2011.
MANSON - HING, Louise April 28, 1961 - September 24, 2011 Louise passed away peacefully on September 24 surrounded by her loving family and friends. In March of 2010 Louise was diagnosed with cancer. Even though the prognosis was devastating, Louise never gave up hope and fought so hard to the very end. She wanted to see her grand nieces and nephews grow up, take care of her sisters and her beloved pets Meiteli, Marko, Pia and Musli. Louise was planning to keep growing her own vegetables and spend the rest of her life with her partner Heidi. She missed her students and wanted to go back to Hastings Education Centre where she was an English teacher. Louise is survived by her sisters Mary Whitelaw, Joyce Gill (Jas), Genevieve Manson-Hing Staples (Glen); nieces Judy (Joy), Joanne (Raylan), Zoe, Gillian; nephews Aaron (Trish), Jared (Sara), Kiren, Zack. Special thanks to Orlando Frizado and all the wonderful nurses and doctors who took care of Louise at the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul's Hospital. We also wish to thank all the staff at St. James Cottage Hospice for their amazing support and compassionate care Louise received. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 15 at 1:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Church, 949 West 49th Ave, Vancouver In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal rescue organization of your choice.

Louise was strong, fearless, independent, earthy and eccentric in a completely loveable way. She had no pretensions and treated all people with equal respect, no matter their station. Her perseverance in her final battle was admirable. Life isn't fair. We will miss you always.

Louise was a true friend. I remember a lot of fond memories since we met when I was 11 years old and she was 15. I learned a lot of valuable lessons from Louise in all the years of laughter, debates, sad times, good times, all times!. I first met Louise in grade 3. Through our high school years, she was my protector, defender and friend. She taught me so much about life. I loved her inquisitive mind, her quick wit and her deep compassion for others. You have a place in my heart that no-one else will ever fill. Thanks for making a difference in my life. God bless you Louis. Love Engel

Louise our Baby sister had the strength and energy that was unsurpassed. Her passion for the underdog esp. her 4-legged "family" and friends was admirable.
Friends and relatives will greatly miss the fruits of her labour, her remarkable "green thumb" has brought much pleasure and happiness to one and all. YOU WILL BE MISSED!
Love, T.C.
