Well-known in Vancouver sports circles, Chet passed away peacefully at Richmond General Hospital. Isabel, his best friend and loving wife of 48 years, was at his bedside. Fondly remembered by his brother Mike, Chet was born in Jasmin, Saskatchewan and raised in Toronto. He accepted a job with IBM in Vancouver in 1964. A qualified minor hockey referee, Chet became actively involved in the Canucks Alumni Association and was on the original organizing committee that introduced the Jake Milford Charity Invitational Golf Tournament in 1984 that has since generated community grants worth over one million dollars. Chet was also an active member at Marine Drive Golf Club for many years. Isabel would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Leslie Brown and Dr. Nixon and his team at the Palliative Care Unit at Richmond General Hospital, as well as a warm thank you to friends and family for their support during this difficult time. A Celebration of Life will be held at Marine Drive Golf Club on Sunday, February 19 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Canuck Place would be greatly appreciated.
