SHEILA JEAN LITT November 8, 1927-November 15, 2012

LITT, Sheila Jean (nee Wright-Neville) died suddenly at home on November 15, 2012 in Victoria, British Columbia. Sheila was born in London, England in 1927 where she was schooled until the outbreak of WWII. With war looming, Sheila bravely boarded a ship, as an unaccompanied minor, for a passage to India, via the Cape of Good Hope, to join her parents, Captain Vivian Wright-Neville and Gwyneth Jane Wright-Neville, previously stationed there with the British Army. Sheila eventually returned to England and boarding school, and soon after graduation met and fell in love with her future husband Richard (Dick) Litt. Sheila and Dick were married in London in 1948. On a whim, with adventure in their hearts, the newlyweds emigrated to Canada, living first in Montreal, then, Vancouver, before settling in Victoria in the early Fifties.

Sheila will always be remembered for her beauty and elegance, her quick wit and intelligence and love of all animals, especially her dear, sweet dachshund, Cindy. Sheila was a talented actress and valued member of the Victoria Theatre Guild, appearing in leading roles in many productions, in a career that spanned several decades.

Cooking was a passion and those lucky enough to sample a slice of Granny Sheila's Famous Apple Pie were indeed fortunate. She was also a voracious reader and keen shopper and, now, forever will remain the undefeated Litt/Reid household Scrabble champion. Sheila enjoyed a long, successful and varied working career, but especially cherished her many years of loyal service during her time at the Provincial Government, Ministry of Forests where she made many lasting friendships.

Sheila was predeceased by her son, David Litt, and is survived and mourned by husband Dick, daughter Bryony Reid (husband, David) of West Vancouver (grandchildren, Colin Reid of Los Angeles, California, Allison Reid Mollerberg (husband, Gabriel) of London, England and Miles Reid of West Vancouver), daughter-in-law, Deirdre Litt of Lewiston, New York (grandchildren, Ryan Litt (fiancée, Melissa) of Buffalo, New York and Graeme Litt of Lewiston, New York), sister, Christine Cunningham (niece, Robyn and nephew, Bruce and their families) of Sydney, Australia .

Special hugs to Mum's girlfriends Wendy Smith, Nancy Davis and Marjory Date.

Service to be held at a later date.
