THOMAS, Edward and Enid
Together Always
Enid Thomas (nee Eutin):
July 1, 1921 - November 25, 2012
Edward Thomas:
April 29, 1920 - November 30, 2012
Enid was born and raised in Rutland, BC. She played piano and saxophone in a band with her siblings, and loved to dance. Later she ran her own beauty shop in Hope and was heavily involved with Girl Guides of BC, even receiving a letter of recognition from Lady Baden Powell. She was an enthusiastic artist, and will be remembered for her kindness, joy, and strength of will for a brighter tomorrow. She was creative, musical, resilient and enjoyed a good sense of humour. Above all, she was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend.
Edward was born in Poznan, Poland and moved to Canada at the age of five. He grew up on a farm in St. Francis, Alberta and was a talented baseball pitcher. After serving in the war, he worked with the Dept of Highways, Peter Kewitt and Sons, and ultimately his own company Edco Construction. He assisted in the construction of many roads, bridges and highways throughout BC. Ed will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, generosity, wry wit and sharp mind. He was an innovator, a man of action and accomplishments, and a devoted father and grandfather and friend.
Together Enid and Ed were a steadfast duo, supporting each other and those around them willingly and without hesitation. Ed retired at 55 to be able to travel and spend time with Enid and the family. They shared 56 years of happy marriage and were inseparable. They are survived by their two sons and grandchildren, Ed's brother and many nieces and nephews. They remain an inspiration to all of us.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church at 33333 Mayfair Avenue in Abbotsford at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2012. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
