Friday morning we were to be saying Hello as we picked you up from the plane to celebrate Christmas together. Instead, we were called to your side to say goodbye. Loving words from his brother: " Heaven received an angel on Dec. 14 at 4:15 a.m., the strongest most courageous, fearless, sweetest, give you the shirt off his back, biggest Canuck fan EVER, Bestest brother Steven passed away peacefully and pain free."
Steven's family is sad to announce his sudden passing. Steven battled many illnesses in his life, with courage, faith, optimism and his FAMOUS ever present smile. He would say "I'm fine" even when he was feeling ill, telling his Mom not to worry.
In his younger years, he enjoyed many sports, hockey, soccer, swimming. He attended Scouts as well. He loved fishing and being near or on the water. Later in life, he participated in the Special Olympics, representing BC in bowling.
Steven had a generous and loving heart and the many loves in his life included family, especially Mom, who gave all of her time and energy to his care, his brother Kevin, his cat Sean, White Caps, BC Lions and in particular, he was a huge Canucks fan. He never missed a game. He loved Starbucks Peppermint Tea, Birthdays and Christmas. Steven was very proud of his volunteer job at Safeway, where he helped fill grocery orders for shut-ins.
In the last 5 years of his life, as his younger brother married and settled on Vancouver Island, Steven was able to serve as Kevin's best man, a very proud day for him, and spent time visiting with Kevin and his new family. He embraced his sister-in-law and his 2 new nephews, and loved being with the whole family.
Steven leaves behind his Mom Denyse Lemay, Father Henry Tremblay, brother Kevin, his wife Julie and their sons Bailey & Kyle. Uncle Bernard, Aunt Lucille, extended family from coast to coast, his cat Sean, and Mya the big dog he loved so much.
The family would like to thank all of Steven's professional team, Dr. Michael Copland, Dr. Jeffry Bell, Dr. Mano Javidan, Brenda Knight, all staff at the Hemodialysis unit at VGH for the excellent care, the wonderful support workers, who made Steven's quality of life their priority and became a second family to him. Thank you also to the countless others who played a vital role in Steven's life and brought him happiness. The family is grateful for the love and support at this very painful time.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Kidney Hemodialysis Unit at Vancouver General Hospital. Cheques can be made out to the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation 855 West 12th Ave. Vancouver BC, V5Z 1M9. (Comment Line; Steven Tremblay - Renal Program Expansion) or online
