SAYLE, George Robert
Passed away suddenly at home in the early hours of January 22, 2012. George was the middle child of Charles and Annie Sayle, brother to Charles (Margit) and Ralph (Tina). He was predeceased by his loving wife Kazuko (January 17, 2008) of 49 years. They had 3 sons, Robert (Derry), David (Kimberly) and Christopher, several grandchildren and a loving and caring extended family. In the week of his passing he became a great-grandfather twice in three days. George was born in 1934 in Edmonton, Alberta. When he was a year old, the family moved to Vancouver to get away from the harsh winters. He spent his youth living two blocks away from Kitsilano Beach, graduating from Kitsilano High School in 1951. After a summer or two working on the CPR and CNR coastal steamers, he enlisted and served 3 years in the RCAF in a number of bases all in Canada. As a youth in Kits, he and his local friends were very active in Cubs, Scouts and Rovers. He was an adult Rover Leader in North Vancouver for many years. George will be dearly missed by all who loved and cared for him. A memorial service will be held in his honor at North Lonsdale United Church, 3380 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver on Sunday January 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
