Passed away in West Vancouver at the age of 96 on March 4, 2013. Youngest child of Muriel Isabel (Wilson) and William Pickup (d. WWI). Born in Blackburn, Lancashire, England on July 30, 1916, immigrated to Canada in 1939. Long-time resident of Montreal and West Vancouver. Sister of Muriel and Tom (both deceased). Loving wife of the late William Herbert (Bill) Rawlings. Joyce was predeceased by her beloved daughter Judy (2009) and infant son Anthony. She leaves behind her devoted son-in-law Gary (Judy), son Chris (Lynn), daughters Gail (David) and Kara (Cyril). "Nanny" was the proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren (Kelly, Dana, Trevor, Riley, Casey, Jordan, Jesse, Nicolas, Daniel, Stephen, Vanessa, Kirsten, Kaytlyn and Kelsi); great-grandmother of Ireland, Hudson, Ethan, Caelan, Kobe, Shelby, Tayla, Joshua and Claira. Graduate of the Royal Academy of Music (London); former member of the Faculty of Music at McGill University; Past President of the Vancouver Women's Musical Club. A lifelong pianist, performer, composer and music teacher, Joyce will be fondly remembered by many former students and colleagues. A special thank you to all the staff of the West Vancouver Care Centre and to private companion, Kathy, for their wonderful and compassionate care of Joyce over the past few years.
