Dr Ian Ross
May 7, 2021
Dr Lakowski was significant in giving me the courage to pursue my goals with the challenges of dyslexia in an era where no accommodations were provided in university. He championed me applying to professional programs and was a source of inspiration as to listening to his own post war academic pursuits and the challenges he faced. A kind and gentle spirit always comes to mind. A great mind and a devotion to pedagogue. He was my most fondly remembered remembered professor over a 16 year academic pursuit. It is with embarrassment that I write this almost 8 years after his passing as I was just asked who was most influential person in my undergraduate degree and when I said Dr Lakowski the following question was if he is still alive you should tell him this. Sadly no. To Leonard and your siblings your Dad was a great man. It also begs the question what was his response when you scrubbed his teapot clean. Only time he ever got angry with me in the lab.

My deepest sympathy to all the Lakowski family. I was privileged to have had him as both an undergraduate and graduate supervisor in 1971-1972.

Florence and I are deeply grieved to hear of the passing of Dr. Lakowski, whom we knew through our long friendship with his son, Ronnie Jr. Words are never adequate servants at a time like this, but we would like to assure the Lakowski family that our hearts and prayers are with all of you right now. And we express our love and condolences to you all.
