The consummate, professional gentleman AND all round great guy!!! I first met Patrick in 1969, in Osaka, Japan at the Canada Pavilion. I was a six (6) year 'veteran' (Constable) of the R.C.M.P. on assignment for security of the Pavilion for Expo '70. To say he enriched my life, early in my service, for my time spent at the Pavilion, would be an understatement. I remember well with special affection meeting his wife Alison and their daughter Amanda at different occasions and social events. My most sincere condolences to you Alison and your family on your tremendous loss. Gone, but never forgotten, R.I.P. Patrick, my friend!

Alison and Family,
My deepest sympathy for your loss. I will forever and fondly remember Patrick racing into the new apartment excitedly like a young school boy, it was the best! I feel blessed to have been a part of that! You all know what a great man he was, I need not tell you this but I will say this....he sure made me proud to be a Canadian!
Hugs,
Heidi

Patrick Reid was a great mentor and hugely supportive when we had the International Ocean Expo in Okinawa back in 1975. I was the assistant manager of the Canadian pavillion at the time, with John Powells as manager. We all greatly respected him and loved his easy smile. What a man! What a life!

I was very sad to hear of the passing of our old friend Patrick Reid while we were on tour. Patrick, a Belfast man was responsible for having us play at different Expos around the world, representing Canada. This prompted a call from Mr. Trudeau, who was Prime Minister at the time, to Patrick, asking why a bunch of Irishmen were singing for Canada, and wouldn't it be wise to make them Canadians? Well, the next day Patrick had us all down at the court house where we proudly became Canadian Citizens.
Our condolences to Allison and all the family. Rest in peace Patrick.

We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Reid, Commissioner General of Expo 86 in Vancouver - where we had the honour of meeting him during the World Exposition at the Air Canada exhibition and several times during the event. He was such a kind and professional gentlemen.

May he rest in Peace.

The portrait I took here of Patrick was taken in his home. We attended many of the same events. Patrick had a great sense of humor. When he was the MC at the Vancouver Board Governors' Banquet, he would address the audience with a chest full of medals. I do not think anyone in Vancouver had as many medals as Patrick. Yet he was a family man and one of the most humble I have met.
He once told me that he saw me as a friend first and photographer second.
He had a back for making you feel important.

I am a ex-member of the Canadian Government Expositions Centre (CGEC) of which Patrick (Paddy) Reid was Director. Each month we have our CGEC alumni luncheon in Ottawa at which he was often an integral part of our discussions. He will continue to be remembered fondly by all his former colleagues as the consummate professional gentlemen and as someone has already mentioned always had a twinkle in his eye.
Our next alumni Luncheon is on December 16th and we will be sure to raise a glass to Patrick. Deepest condolences to all his family.

I am saddened by the passing of Patrick whom I have known for a long time especially when we were on the board of the Canadian Club. For many years when we celebrated the Flag Day on or around February 15th, he always gave us the story of the Origin of our Maple Leaf Flag at the celebration luncheon.
We will miss him.
