Irene R. (Miller) Barbuzanes, 85, of 304 E. Grant St., Greencastle, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, in the York Hospital, York, Pa.
Born March 23, 1928, in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Daisy (Coldsmith) Miller. She was a lifelong resident of the Greencastle area.
She and her husband, the late Nicholas Barbuzanes, were married on Jan. 25, 1944, in Hagerstown, Md. They moved to the Grant Street address in 1954. Mr. Barbuzanes died on Oct. 29, 1971.
Mrs. Barbuzanes was a homemaker most of her life, however she did work for and retire from the James River Co. in Chambersburg, Pa.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Harry D. Zeigler VFW
Post 6319 Ladies Auxiliary, both of Greencastle.
Mrs. Barbuzanes enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed her dogs.
She is survived by four children, Mersina B. Barnett and her husband, Richard of Lakeland, Fla., Gust Barbuzanes and his wife, Mimi of State Line, Pa., Nicholas Barbuzanes and his wife, Terry of Greencastle, and Christopher Barbuzanes of Kearneysville, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Myers of State Line and Doris Statler of Chambersburg; one brother, Joseph Miller of Greencastle; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Christine Kaiser, who died on Feb. 23, 2013; one infant grandson, Matthew Barbuzanes; two sisters; and two brothers.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, with Pastor William DeHass and Pastor Leon Yoder officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening, in the funeral home.
