Rick R. Rock(1947 - 2014)

Rick R. Rock, 66, of Gettysburg, died on Monday, May 19, 2014.
Born Nov. 18, 1947, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Raymond T. and Lorraine A. (Lineburg) Rock, and husband of the late Linda A. (Shealer) Rock, who died in 2001. Rick and Linda were married in 1974, when he became the father of Linda's three children, Tim Todd and Tammy.
Raised in Waynesboro, Rick played football for Waynesboro High as a defensive end and kicker. A lifelong sports fan, his favorite teams included the New York Mets, Washington Redskins and Penn State Nittany Lions. Throughout his life, Rick enjoyed good food, playing cards, NASCAR, John Wayne, The Three Stooges, talk radio, bowling and country music. His larger-than-life personality allowed him to make friends everywhere he went.
As a young man, Rick began his working career at Moore's Farm. Later, he became a professional truck driver for DMI of Gettysburg and Cressler's Trucking of Shippensburg. Rick served in the United States Army Reserve from 1967 to 1973. He was a member of the Home Association of McSherrystown and Littlestown American Legion Post 321.
Among those preceding Rick in death were his wife and parents, grandmother Meta B. Lineburg, father-in-law Frederick M. Shealer, cousin Dain "Danny" Baer and grandson Ryan A. Rock.
Rick is survived by his three children Timothy L. Rock (Sharon), Todd A. Rock and Tammy L. Cook (Jeffrey); six grandchildren Casey L. Rock (Melissa), Heather L. Wilson (Jason), Amber M. Rock, Zachary E. Rock, Jason J. Cook and Cameron B. Cook; six great-grandchildren Carter L. Rock, Kailyn E. Bower, Channing R. Bower, Aliviah M. Lewis, Kendal C. Carroll and Kedron R. Rock; and his faithful canine companion of 13 years, Majtie.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23, at Monahan Funeral Home, 125 Carlisle St., Gettysburg, with Rev. Stephen Broache officiating. Burial will be in the Great Conewago Cemetery, Hunterstown. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolence may be made at:
