Russel K. Linebaugh, 87, of 12222 Polktown Road, Lot 34, Zullinger, Pa., passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, in The Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, Pa.
Born Jan. 15, 1927, in Freedom Township, Adams County, Pa., he was the son of the late Lawrence W. Linebaugh and Eleanor M. (Witherow) Linebaugh-Gallagher.
Mr. Linebaugh was a graduate of Girard College in Columbus, Ohio, with the Class of 1943.
He served in the United States Army during World War II
with the 341st Ordnance Co. where he was stationed in Kobe, Japan.
Mr. Linebaugh was employed as a printer for over 40 years, mostly for Columbus Dispatch Newspaper. He retired in 1989.
He was a 40-year member of the International Typographical Union.
Mr. Linebaugh enjoyed playing and listening to classical music.
He is survived by one sister, Faith Lucille Linebaugh of Fayetteville, Pa.; two brothers, Robert Andrew Linebaugh and his wife, Eve of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Ira Ross Linebaugh and his wife, Louise of Greencastle, Pa.; and nine nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold W. Linebaugh.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Milton Herrold officiating. Burial will follow in Fairfield Union Cemetery, Fairfield, Pa.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Tuesday afternoon, in the funeral home.
