Charles D. "Dan" Blizzard, 68, of 6798 White Rock Road, Chambersburg, Pa. passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, in his home.
Born Dec. 31, 1944, in Rouzerville, Pa., he was the son of the late Richard H. and Carrie V. (Black) Blizzard.
Dan served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
He and his wife, Arlene (Ritter) Blizzard, were married on Oct. 23, 1998, in Waynesboro, Pa. They have lived at their present residence since the marriage.
Dan retired in 1998 from Letterkenny Army Depot where he worked as a mechanic.
He was a life member of AMVETS Post 224; Marine Corps League; Waynesboro Fish and Game Protective Association; Waynesboro Moose Lodge; William "Max" McLaughlin VFW Post 695 and Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15.
He was an avid hunter and got a lot of satisfaction doing lawn care on his John Deere tractor. He also enjoyed watching football, especially the Baltimore Ravens.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his five children: Danny Thomas and his wife, Lisa of Fayetteville, Pa., Tina Cook and her husband, Jeff of Fayetteville, Dawn Coldsmith and her husband, David of Chambersburg, Jason Bumbaugh and his wife, Sherry of Fayetteville, and Harold David Bumbaugh Jr. of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his siblings, Richard E. Blizzard Sr. of Waynesboro, Patsy A. Jordan of Chambersburg, Linda K. Groft of Chambersburg, Merna L. Traxler of Chambersburg, Carrie M. Blizzard of Waynesboro, and Janet L. Groft of Chambersburg, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, stillborn Chastity Bumbaugh; a brother, Gerald R. Blizzard Sr.; and a sister, Joyce L. Blizzard.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Rev. Menno B. Sollenberger officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy, Pa., where military graveside honors will be conducted by the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard of Chambersburg.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.

RIP Dan it was great to know a person like Dan. I had worked with him at LEAD and he was always ready to help or give advice when needed. The Blizzard family couldn't have had a better husband/father and friend.
