Fielder T. "Tots" Marlow Jr., 88, of 11167 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, his 88th birthday, in his home.
Born on Nov. 23, 1925, in Fairland, Md., he was the son of the late Fielder T. Marlow Sr. and Florence Marlow. He grew up on the family farm with his late brother, Donald, and sister Shirley.
He worked as a mechanic for the Washington, D.C., Bus Co. Tots also served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He later served as chief of the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department. It was at the fire department that he met his beloved Carolyn B. (Mueller) Marlow. He married her in January 1965 and became a loving father to her children, Carolyn, Jackie and Wes. Carolyn married Ron Holmer and thrilled the family with grandchildren, Jason and Kristyn. Wes married Gloria and added Stella, Carey and Elinor to the family. He later married Peggy with John and Lydia completing the wealth of grandchildren. The family also now has four great-grandchildren.
Sadness came to the family in 1982 with the death of their daughter, Carolyn, later with the death of his brother, Donald, and again in 2012 with the death of his beloved wife, Carolyn. Through the years, Tots became loved and adored by all the family and many others who came to know him.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 S. Church St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Dennis Beaver officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
