May Chamberlin Blubaugh, 89, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Born Anna May Chamberlin on Feb. 23, 1925, in Mont Alto, Pa., she was the daughter of Grace Bushman Chamberlin and Sterling Chamberlin. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert and Kenneth.
May is survived by her husband Paul Alvin Blubaugh. They were married in 1949. She is also survived by son Paul William Blubaugh of Hickory, N.C., a daughter-in-law Marjorie Theisen Blubaugh and two grandchildren, David Blubaugh and Clare McCowen.
May graduated from Quincy High School in 1943 where she was a guard on the basketball team. Upon graduation she was employed at Landis Machine Co. preparing drawings in the Drafting Department. She also worked in drafting at Vulcan Machine Co. and Glideline Corp. in Waynesboro.
As an adult, May contributed her time and talent to several local organizations. She was a life member and past president of Beta Sigma Phi sorority which sponsors projects to raise donations for local charities and college scholarships. In 2011 she was recognized for 55 years of service to the American Red Cross where she helped manage bloodmobiles in the surrounding area. She helped the Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary more than 50 years by making Christmas wreaths and table top trees for their seasonal Greens Sale. She also delivered Meals on Wheels to the elderly.
May was a member of Otterbein Church in Waynesboro where she served as a past altar committee chairperson and a Bible school assistant.
In recent years May continued her volunteer work and exercise program at the YMCA. She also enjoyed bus trips with her husband Paul, flower gardening, golfing, and time spent with family and friends in Quincy Village.
A memorial service will be held on May 3, 2014, at 1 p.m. in the Bryson Room at Quincy Village, 6596 Orphanage Road, Waynesboro, Pa., with Pastor John Hoffman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Home Care and Hospice Inc., 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201, The American Red Cross, 90 W. Main St., Waynesboro, Pa. 17268, or to the Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary, 501 E. Main St. Waynesboro, Pa. 17268.
