Cletus W. Emory Obituary
Cletus W. Emory, 96, a resident of Julia Manor Health Care Center, Hagerstown, and formerly of 14309 Pen Mar - Highrock Road, Cascade, Md., passed away Saturday evening, in the nursing home.
Born Aug. 20, 1917, in Hamiltonban Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles H. and Ida Belle (Green) Emory.
Mr. Emory was a laborer in the Maintenance Department at Camp Louise for many years and in his earlier years he helped to build the AT&T lines across the mountain.
He enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with family and good friends and he especially loved his cats.
He is survived by one grandson, John O. Freeman Jr. of Waynesboro; four great-grandsons, Terry Wiley, Daniel Wiley III, Jason Freeman and Steven Freeman; six great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Doris I. "Punkey" Freeman and Peggy A. Arentz; one son, Jesse L. Emory; his former spouse, Josephine I. (Bowman) Emory; his companion of many years, Edith Kindle; five brothers; five sisters; and four half brothers.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Richard Daughtridge officiating. Burial will follow in Jacob's Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening in the funeral home.
