Guy LeRoy Rotz Obituary
Guy LeRoy Rotz of 852 Broad Lane, Falling Waters, W.Va., passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014. He was known for his love and ability to train dogs, horses and other animals. Numerous people in the Tri-State area have enjoyed the dog shows he put on at Antietam Recreation with his amazing Boxer, Sparky. He was a favorite with children throughout his life, and especially his grandkids. Always full of fun, they were drawn to his quick smile and jovial manner. He was a WWII veteran having served in the Pacific theater. He was employed at Landis Machine Co. in Waynesboro and Mack Trucks in Hagerstown until his retirement. He was a hard worker, good provider and family man.
Born March 18, 1922, at his home in New Franklin near Chambersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Harry and Verda (Statler) Rotz. He was a member of the Grace Bible Church in Greencastle.
In addition to this parents, he was preceded in death by his wife (of 71 years) Pearl E. (Hoffman) Rotz.
He is survived by one sister, Lois Newcomer. He is also survived by his children, Ellen McCulloh Michalsky Miller and Bob and Duane Rotz. He has 10 grandchildren: Kathie McCulloh Small, Timothy McCulloh, Patti McCulloh Nowell, and Mark Michalsky; Jessica, Rob, Andy, Tim, and Bill Rotz; and Lindsey Rotz O'Neil. In addition he has nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor J. Herman Fisler officiating. Burial will follow in Antietam Cemetery (formerly Price's Church) off of 316 North in Waynesboro, Pa.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Wednesday morning, in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Grace Bible Church, 2327 Hoffman Road, Greencastle, Pa. 17225.
