Mary V. (Lampognana) Morton Obituary
Mary V. (Lampognana) Morton, 88, of Winsted, Conn., passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, in Quincy Village.
Born March 28, 1926, in Winsted, she was the daughter of the late John and Salavtrice Lampognana. She was a lifelong resident of the Winsted area.
She and her husband, the late Mr. Edward J. Morton, were married Oct. 30, 1948. Mr. Morton passed away July 3, 2005.
Mrs. Morton was employed as a cook for the school district in Winsted, and was later a clerk at First National, later Finest Grocery Store, all of Winsted.
She was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella's, both of Winsted. She also volunteered at Winsted Hospital.
Mrs. Morton enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting and taking walks.
She is survived by two children, Virginia L. "Ginny" Shockey and her husband, Terry of Waynesboro, Pa., and Edward J. Morton and his wife, Barbara of Winsted; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Parsons of Florida; one brother, Thomas Lampognana of Winsted; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Antoinette Fredsall; and one brother, Angelo Lampanaro.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, where the Rev. John Bateman will conduct a prayer service at 8 p.m.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
