Angel Mendoza Gonzalez Obituary
Angel Mendoza Gonzalez, 85, of 252 Wayne Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., passed away peacefully on Friday April 18, 2014, in Chambersburg Hospital, surrounded by his family.
Born Nov. 2, 1928, in Humacao, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Concepcion Mendoza and Gregoria Diaz Gonzalez.
He retired from Teledyne Landis Machine Co. with over 30 years of service.
Angel enjoyed gardening, music, dancing, walking, and most of all-Family. He was very giving and had a gusto for life.
He is survived by his children Marianne Simmons of Fayetteville, Pa.; Dana Gonzalez (Wife Ursula) of Williamsport, Md.; Zeda Gonzalez (husband Maurice Kane) of San Dimas, Calif.; Steven Gonzalez (Wife Sandra) of Woodbridge, Va.; Joycene Gonzalez Purvis (husband Barry Purvis) of Chambersburg, Pa. ; Edwin Gonzalez (wife Margaret) of Strongsville, Ohio; Carmen Gonzalez Hodge (husband Billy Hodge Jr.) of Fayetteville, Pa.; Sonyia Gonzalez Joseph of Chambersburg, Pa.; and Angel Gonzalez (wife Robin) of Bel Air, Md.; sisters, Maria Rodriquez of New Castle, Del., and Luz Mendoza of Humacao, Puerto Rico, and brothers, Candido "Eddie" Mendoza of Waynesboro, Pa., Gregorio Mendoza and Raymond Mendoza of Humacao, Puerto Rico; 23 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister-in-law, Charla Owens; his extended family, The Watts; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dolores Hill Gonzalez; his daughter Marta Alicia Gonzalez; and siblings Victoria Soto Mendoza, Luis Mendoza and Christobal "Charlie" Mendoza.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, in St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Rev. John B. Bateman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
