Robert A. "Bob" Mong Obituary
Robert A. "Bob" Mong, 74, of North Potomac Street, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Rouzerville, Pennsylvania, passed away Monday June 2, 2014, at his home.
Born July 13, 1939, on Mong Road, near Ringgold, Maryland, he was the son of the late Joseph Arnold and Anna Mae (Brown) Mong.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Audrey Elizabeth (Haupt) Mong on Nov. 26, 2006. They were married Feb. 12, 1961.
He attended Smithsburg High School.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Rouzerville, Franklin County Holstein Association, Pennsylvania Holstein Association, Eagles Club Inc., Moose Lodge, Owl's Club and American Legion, all of Waynesboro.
Bob had a deep passion for Dairy Farming. He was well known for holding a impeccable record for his Holstein herd and even had a perfectly scored Holstein pictured on the front cover of Holstein World Magazine. He was owner and operator of Afton Springs Farm of Rouzerville for 43 years with his wife.
He is survived by two daughters Sharon E. Mong of Blue Ridge Summit and Kristin L. (Mong) McLaren and husband Sean of Pittsville, Maryland, two sons Steven R. Mong of Rouzerville and Kevin A. Mong of Voorhees, New Jersey, five grandchildren Robert L. Mong, Faith E. Mong, Kelley C. Mong, Madison E. McLaren and Sandee L. McLaren, one sister Rosalie Lucinda Mong Davis of Martinsburg, West Virginia, one brother Ronald Joseph "Joe" Mong and wife Brenda of Martinsburg, West Virginia, brother and sister-in-law Junior Haupt and wife Colleen of Mount Lena, Maryland, companion Katie Barber of Waynesboro and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers David Ellsworth Mong and Terry Lee Mong, brother and sister-in-law Roger Haupt and wife June and nephew Jeff Haupt.
Services will be held Friday June 6, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Rouzerville with Pastor Robert Marsh officiating. Burial will be in Harbaugh Cemetery of Rouzerville.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home of Smithsburg, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Bob to the Franklin County Holstein Association at 12750 Kerter Road, Mercersburg, PA 17236.
