Thomas A. Robinson Obituary
Thomas A. Robinson, 69, of 433 W. Main St., Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, in Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Born May 18, 1945 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Percy R. and Pauline G. (Myers) Robinson.
A lifelong resident of Waynesboro, he graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the class of 1963. He later attended Hagerstown Junior College.
He and his wife of over 43 years, Kay E. (Piper) Robinson, were married on July 21, 1970 in Hagerstown, Maryland. They have lived at their present residence since 1973.
Mr. Robinson worked as a cost accountant at the Frick Co., Waynesboro, for over 35 years. He later worked at the Joe Stickell American Legion, Waynesboro, as a janitor for 15 years and as a janitor at Break Away Sports Lounge, Waynesboro.
He grew up playing ball, starting with the Waynesboro Little League. He was named rookie of the year when playing for Waynesboro Pony League, eventually coaching the team for a couple of years; he played varsity baseball for Waynesboro High School, and later for HJC; he coached Waynesboro Colt League; three regional Legion championship teams; and was inducted into Pennsylvania American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995. This was his 40th year as manager of the Waynesboro Legion Post 15 team, winning 14 FCALBL championships. In addition to baseball, he enjoyed traveling with his wife to spring training since 1982 and family trips to the ocean.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Tracey L. Meyer and her husband, Robert of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Robert E. Dingle of Chambersburg and Joe W. Robinson of Waynesboro; a granddaughter, Maddison R. Meyer of Chambersburg; a sister, Connie Haulman of Chambersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Ralph Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening in the funeral home.
