Blane E. "Sonny" Hollingsworth Obituary
Blane E. "Sonny" Hollingsworth, 64, of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, passed away after an extended illness on Sunday, June 15, 2014, in his home with his family at his side.
Born Dec. 25, 1949, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Robert and Rosetta Lottie (Martin) Hollingsworth.
He grew up in the areas of Waynesboro and South Mountain, Pennsylvania. He married Barbara Lou (Fogle) Hollingsworth Oct. 26, 1968, in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, Maryland.
Mr. Hollingsworth was employed at Antietam Dairy, Waynesboro, Chuck's Sunoco, Waynesboro, and the last 28 years as a construction superintendent with R.S. Mowery & Sons Inc., Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
He is a member of South Mountain Fish and Game, Waynesboro Fish and Game, Adams County Fish and Game and Lone Star Hunting Club, Bedford, Pennsylvania. Sonny appreciated almost any outdoor activity; and was an avid hunter along with fishing, archery and crabbing. He was a hardworking and devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and a mentor to all. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and his faithful furry companions, Shadow, Mossy and Cami.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tammy Sue Martin and her husband, Greg E. Martin of South Mountain; a son, Gabriel Eugene "Gabe" Hollingsworth, and his wife, Sherry of Clear Spring, Maryland; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a sister Rose (Hollingsworth) Hawk and her husband, Wayne of Okeechobee, Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert "Bobbie" Hollingsworth.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Lee Daywalt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
