Kile H Nelson Obituary
Kile H. Nelson, 63, of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, passed away June 20, 2014, in the Martinsburg VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, West Virginia.
Born Aug. 24, 1950, in Baltimore, Maryland, he became a foster son of the late Claggett and Hilda Ramsburg when he was a young child. He grew up in the Mount Pleasant, Maryland, area.
He graduated from Walkersville, Maryland, High School with the class of 1969 and entered the United States Marine Corps in June of 1969. Mr. Nelson was a Vietnam veteran serving as an automotive technician stationed at Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, North Carolina.
Kile married Susanne J. (Dawson) Nelson Oct. 20, 1973, in the Calvary Lutheran Church, Jacksonville, North Carolina.
He was employed as a concrete foreman, assisting in the construction of many of the highrise office buildings in Washington, D.C. He also worked as a maintenance mechanic in the Franklin Square Hospital Baltimore, Maryland, and most recently was employed as a maintenance mechanic for the Waynesboro Hospital, leaving this past February due to health issues.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 6658 of Emmitsburg, Maryland, and served as a Cub Scout Master in Thurmont, Maryland, in the mid-1980s. Mr. Nelson loved being outdoors. He was a skilled carpenter, making model barns for his grandchildren. He loved old black and white movies, especially John Wayne.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Nelson is survived by three children: daughter, Wendy A. Rinker and her husband, Kurt, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, son, Michael P. Nelson, and his wife, Sherry, Hagerstown, Maryland, daughter, Dawn J. Stitely, Walkersville, Maryland; four grandchildren, Kamren and Wyatt Rinker, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, and Clark and Phillip Nelson, Hagerstown, Maryland, and one brother Robert Nelson, Baltimore, Maryland, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Martinsburg VA Medical Center, Palliative Care Unit, 510 Butler Ave., Martinsburg, WV 25405.
