Louis L. "Bud" Barnes Obituary
Louis L. "Bud" Barnes, 79, of Hagerstown passed away Wednesday July 23, 2014, at his home.
Born June 16, 1935, near Leitersburg, he was the son of the late William M. and Leona H. (Barbee) Barnes.
He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School class of 1953 and received his teaching certificate from the University of Maryland at College Park.
He retired from the State of Maryland after 29 years of service as a maintenance supervisor and vocational instructor.
He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church of Rohrersville.
Bud was an avid gardener and woodworker.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Beverly Ann Barnes whom he married Nov. 10, 1962, one son Gregory L. Barnes of Hagerstown, four sisters, Nellie Bachtell and Margaret J. Koontz, both of Hagerstown, and Patricia Izer and Beverly J. Barnes, both of Atlanta, Georgia, two brothers, Thomas E. Barnes and James T. Barnes, both of Hagerstown, brother-in-law Donald Hamburg of Chewsville and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara A. Kline and Betty Kline, two brothers, Jack Barnes and Elmo Barnes and three half brothers, Frank Barnes, Hollis Barnes and William Barnes.
Services will be held Monday, July 28, 2014, at 10 a.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, with Rev. John W. Schildt officiating. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home
