James T. "Jim" Duble Sr. Obituary
James T. "Jim" Duble Sr., 68, of Cascade, Maryland, passed away from natural causes Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Born May 15, 1946, in Trenton, N.J., he was the son of the late George E. and Margaret Jean (Clapperton) Duble.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving five tours in Vietnam. During his service he was also assigned to Fort Ritchie, Maryland, Germany, Hawaii and retired with the rank of first sergeant at Fort Detrick in 1984. He served as chief of communications at Fort Detrick from 1986-1994.
He was a member of VFW Post 6658 of Emmitsburg, AMVETS Post 7 of Thurmont and American Legion Post 239 of Cascade.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Carolyn Ann (Crawford Robinson) Duble whom he married Dec. 24, 1992, at Eyler's Valley Chapel. Other survivors are children: James Jr., Catherine, Joseph and wife Kathleen, and Elizabeth Duble; stepchildren: Elaine and husband Troy Orner and Kelly Robinson; sister Toni Ksell; grandchildren: Amber, Zach, Corrie, Rileigh, Dalton, Dillon, Christopher and Karalina; nieces: Vanessa and Gia; and good buddies Len Frommel and Bryan Robinson.
He was preceded in death by siblings Margaret, Kathleen, and Robert Duble.
There will be no viewing.
Services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at 2 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home Smithsburg, Maryland. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Arlington National Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Jim to the American Legion at or Wounded Warrior Project at
