Goldie Lillian (Monn) Cook Heinlein Obituary
Goldie Lillian (Monn) Cook Heinlein, 96, a resident of Quincy Village and formerly of 7236 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, in the nursing home.
Born Sept. 22, 1917, in Mont Alto, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Wagaman) Monn.
Mrs. Heinlein attended Waynesboro High School.
She and her husband, the late Joseph J. Heinlein, were married in March 1976. Mr. Heinlein passed away Aug. 12, 1985. She entered the nursing home in March 2007.
Mrs. Heinlein was employed as a dietary aide at Quincy United Methodist Home for many years. She retired in 1976.
She attended Hollowell Brethren in Christ Church, Greencastle, and after moving to Quincy Village, she attended services in the Bryson Room.
Mrs. Heinlein is survived by four children, William J. Cook and his wife, Lois of Chambersburg, Donna R. Stull of Waynesboro, John E. Cook of Quincy and Bradley E. Cook and his wife, Nancy of Chambersburg; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dessie Naugle of Carlisle, Fran Ickes and Anne Marie Zimmerman, both of Harrisburg, and Linda Lackey of Easton; one brother, Ronald Monn of Steelton; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James W. Cook; three sisters, June Botts, Catherine Monn and Irene Escobar; and six brothers, Ray Monn, Robert Monn, Minnard Monn, Joseph Monn, John Monn and Victor Monn.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Chaplain Justin Isbister officiating. Burial will be private in Mount Zion Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
