Donald E. Kline Obituary
Donald E. Kline, 81, of 302 Landis Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, in Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, Pa.
Born Oct. 25, 1931, in Smithsburg, Md., he was the son of the late Elmer and Lottie (Ott) Kline.
Don was a graduate of Smithsburg High School with the Class of 1950.
He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 1, 1954, until Oct. 10, 1956, where he spent time stationed in Germany.
He and his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Mary Jane (Tomlinson) Kline, were married Oct. 27, 1956, in The Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro. They had lived at their present residence since 1959.
Don was employed at Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro, in the sales department, where he was also a member of the LATCO Club. He retired as an office manager in 1998 after more than 48 years of service.
He was a member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagles Club Inc., Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15, William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695 and Waynesboro Fish and Game Association, all of Waynesboro. He also served as a volunteer at Waynesboro Hospital for many years.
Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, gardening, wood working, refinishing furniture and watching sports.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Karen M. Berger and her fiancé, Kevin McAllister of Waynesboro, and Greg L. Kline and his wife, Mary of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott C. Berger; three sisters, Dorothy Fleagle, Virginia McCleaf and Miriam Gantz; and one brother, Elmer "Jack" Kline.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, 2013, in The Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 S. Church St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Dennis Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro.
