Joanna Brown Obituary

Mrs. Joanna Jeannine (Cauffman) Brown, 87, of 11765 Pen Mar Road, Waynesboro, PA, took the hand of Jesus and passed from this Earth on Friday, January 6, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family.

Jeannine was born in Quincy, PA on February 27, 1929 to John and Lottie (Shaffer) Cauffman.

She lived her early life in the Mont Alto Area and attended Quincy schools.

Jeannine and her husband, the late Mr. Lynn C. Brown were married on August 30th, 1968.  Lynn preceded Jeannine in death on December 31st, 2016.  Just 6 days prior to her passing.

As a young woman, Jeannine worked in the Mont Alto Shoe Factory.  In later years she worked as a seamstress for Laig' Alon and later Yvonne Kay.  Jeannine retired in 1977 to take care of her family.

Jeannine was raised in a Christian home and had a firm belief in our Savior Jesus Christ.  She attended Wayne Heights Brethren Church, Waynesboro.

She was a true matriarch for her family and enjoyed attending ball games for her great-grandchildren.  She rarely missed a school event and was always there to help when needed.  She loved watching her birds, except starlings, which she could be seen shooting at with her air gun.  Her sewing machine was always open for mending or sewing all-star patches on baseball jerseys.  She was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan and rooted her team on every chance she got.  Unless they were losing, then she went to bed.

Her life revolved around her family.

Jeannine is survived by one daughter, Lisa Barnhart and her husband Gary of Waynesboro; one granddaughter, Carly Carbaugh of Waynesboro; three great-grandchildren, AJ Gardner, Chelsea Cover, and Reese Cover.  She also adored her great-great-granddaughter Melanie Grace Gardner.  Also, surviving her are two brothers Bahner Cauffman and wife Mabel of Harrisburg and Roderick Cauffman and wife Joanne of Waynesboro; a sister, Sharlene Butts of Chambersburg; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving parents and her husband, Jeannine is preceded in death by, two brothers, Donald Cauffman of Mont Alto and John Cauffman Jr. of Harrisburg; and three sisters, Gloria Shirey of Valley Forge, Mary Jane Carbaugh of Chambersburg and Margaret Wile of York.

A combined Celebration of Life service for Jeannine and Lynn will be held Saturday, January 21st at 1:00 P.M. at Wayne Heights Brethren Church, 120 Strickler Ave., Waynesboro, PA.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 2151
