Lucie Lilly passed away suddenly at her home in Vacaville on Sept. 28, 2011.
Lucie was born in San Francisco. Her father was career Army, and she lived where he was stationed. She lived in El Sobrante, Germany, San Antonio and Tacoma, before settling in Tara Hills, Pinole, in 1963. Lucie attended Tara Hills Elementary, Pinole Jr. High, and was a 1974 graduate of Pinole Valley High School. In 1976, she graduated from Healds Business College and embarked on a 20 year career as a legal secretary in San Francisco.
She was a longtime Vacaville resident, where she was a full time wife and mother. She was involved in her sons' school and extra curricular activities, taught Catechism at St. Mary's Catholic Church, and held various part time jobs, including Michael's and New Homes Magazine. In recent years, Lucie was an employee at Sees Candy in the Nut Tree Shopping Center. People in town would often recognize her as the "Sees lady." Lucie said she enjoyed the job because everyone who came into the store was in a happy place.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Lilly; and her sons, Jimmy and Joey of Vacaville. Her parents, Robert Heim and Ottilie Heim of Pinole predeceased her. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Virginia Lilly; her stepdaughter, Kim; her stepgrandsons, John and Ralph; her step great-grandson, Bryley; her loving brothers and sisters, Michael Heim (Carol), Thomas Heim (Cheryl), Celeste Rodwell (Chris), Monica Ullarich (Raymond), and John Heim (Diane); and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
Friends and family are invited to Lucie's memorial Mass on Friday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 350 Stinson Ave., Vacaville 95688. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

How glad I am that I had a time to visit with Lucie a few weeks before the Lord called for her to come to His house. She caused me to have fun and brightened my days just her presence in the room. Life was much too short for her but she is having the greatest gift of all...Eternal Life. My love goes to the family...James, Jimmy and Joey and all the rest.

It is such a shock to lose someone to a heart attack, with no chance to say goodbye or adjust to the idea of their passing. I sincerely feel for you, my friend Mike, and to Lucie's husband and children I can only extend my deepest condolences. My heart goes out to all of you at this sad time. She was much loved and her absence leaves an ache in many hearts, including mine. It's impossible to know what to say in these circumstances. May your faith uphold you and the love of your family and friends sustain you.

I remember the first day I met Luci. It was the first day of our freshman year in Pinole Valley High. Actually, I first saw her in the late morning in the 300 building. She was walking by herself, self-assured, full of energy, with her patented smile. But I was too shy to say hi. I was happy to find, that afternoon, we had a class together.
I am sorry for her loss--especially to her family. Fortunately, I think we are all blessed to have known her.
