Crews, Clarence "Tex" - Fairfield  
Jan. 20, 1921 June 11, 2016 Clarence "Tex" Crews, beloved father of Earl and Cheryl Crews passed away peacefully on June 11. Tex was born on a farm in Caesar, TX to J.W. and Lena Crews. He was the youngest of eight brothers and sisters. After graduating from Pawnee High School, he enlisted in the Army. During World War II, he was stationed at West Point as a medic. After the war, Tex moved to Corpus Christi, TX where he met Bonnie Handley on a blind date. That date was the beginning of a loving, 60 year marriage. Tex worked most of his life in the petroleum industry and was transferred to California in 1976. Clarence and Bonnie made their home in Vacaville. In 1985, he retired from Pacific Refinery as a lab supervisor. Tex was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Community United Methodist Church. He touched many lives with his kind heart and gentle humor. He enjoyed gardening, volunteering and traveling. After Bonnie passed in 2009, Tex moved to Brookdale Leisure Town. He is survived by his children, Cheryl Crews of Pleasant Hill and Earl Crews of Costa Rica. He also leaves behind daughter-in-law, Cindy Craig Crews; nieces, nephews and good friends. A memorial service will be held at Community United Methodist Church, 1875 Fairfield Ave., Fairfield, at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 1 with a reception to follow.
