Lloyd McCrory "Mac" Chandler, Jr.

Jan. 14, 1924 - Oct. 25, 2012
Lloyd McCrory Chandler Jr. (Mac), passed peacefully from this life on Oct. 25, in Vacaville, CA. He was born in Sacramento to Lloyd McCrory Chandler, Sr. and Mildred Verna Polland Chandler on Jan.14, 1924.
Mac grew up and lived his entire life in Vacaville. He went all through grammar school and after graduating from high school went on to UC Davis. He remained life long friends with many of his classmates and they continued seeing each other on into the later years of their lives.
He met the love of his life, Betty Jean Galbraith at the Vacaville Creamery right after high school. They dated for the next few years. Like a lot of his fellow classmates, he joined the military service after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was proud to serve honorably in the Merchant Marines during the war.
At the end of the war he came home and married his Sweetheart. They soon settled down to family life and he went to work at Lloyd Chandler Furniture Store which his father began in 1935. He remained there until his retirement. He belonged to the Vacaville Lions Club and was also a volunteer fireman and helped put out many a blaze in Vacaville. He was an avid bridge player and held the title of "Life Master". He loved playing golf and was a member of the Yolo Flyers Club for many years.
Our Dad always enjoyed life and shared so much of it with his children and friends. He never had a negative thing to say about others and we never knew anyone who didn't like him. He embraced that he was able to live, work and play in the town that he loved, Vacaville.
Mac is survived by his four daughters, Toni Jane McPherson, Kristin Chandler, Sherene Chandler (Scott Parsons) and Betty Jean Chandler, and his ex-wife, Betty Jean Galbraith Oleari. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Chandler Beeman and brother, Kim Chandler (Sandra); as well as four grandsons, Christopher McKoy, Michael McPherson, Dustin DeVan and Kyle DeVan; one granddaughter, Jeanie McKoy; two great-granddaughters, Chelsea Nine and Michelle McPherson; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Chandler, Sr. and Mildred Chandler.
Funeral services will be held on Friday Nov. 2, at McCune Garden Chapel at 10 a.m., followed by a short graveside service, followed by a reception at the Saturday Club.
