Robert James Moore, Jr.

Robert J. Moore Jr., age 78, a fourth generation Californian, passed away in Austin, Texas on Wednesday, June 19. He was born in Oakland, Calif. on June 29, 1934 to Alma L. and Robert J. Moore, Sr., who proceded him in death. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Moore of Austin, TX; daughter, Cynthia Moore Minyard of Austin, TX: son, Dr. Robert J. Moore III of Houston, TX and brother, Gary Moore of Vacaville, CA. He was blessed with three granddaughters, Samantha Moore, Jessica Moore, and Peyton Minyard; a niece, Michelle Moore Colyer, and three nephews, Kevin Moore, Jon Polanich and Justin Polanich. Robert served in the Naval National Guard and was very proud to have attended officer training and been a pilot for the United States Air Force. He spent his childhood and early adult years living in Lafayette, Calif, where he graduated from Acalanes High School, was a member of Masonic Lodge #134 and participated as a Rotary Club member for 25 years. The Moore family resided for almost a decade in the Sacramento area, followed by almost 40 years in Vacaville. He and his wife moved to Austin, TX in 2010 to be near their children. His professional career as a civil engineer included being a 4th generation PG&E employee for over 25 years. After retirement, he maintained both Fair Oaks Marine and RJM Engineering. Robert had a passion for building things and going fast, racing both cars and boats. As a family man, he loved restoring both cars and boats and was always looking for his next project. Robert and Beverly enjoyed being members of the "Abingdon Rough Riders", a vintage MG 'TC' touring car club in their retirement. He was a loyal and devoted son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A private cremation was performed, without a formal ceremony.
