Ruthanna (Hughes) Massari

Ruthanna Massari of Napa, CA., passed away peacefully on Nov. 9, at the age of 88. She was born Ruthanna Hughes on April 7, 1924 in Savannah, Missouri. She has been a Napa resident since 1954 and worked at Napa State Hospital as a Psychiatric Technician with geriatric and autistic patients for 30 years retiring in 1986. For the last eight years she was cared for in Vacaville.
Ruthanna was an avid crafter with many talents, one of which was quilting, making many special quilts for each family member. She was a kind and generous mother and friend, and will be missed dearly by those who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Sparks (husband Joe) of Vacaville; sons, Don Reaksecker (wife Martha) of Yuba City, John Reaksecker of Napa, and Robert Massari (wife Zandra) of Napa; grandchildren, Brendon Reaksecker of San Diego, Nikole Reaksecker of Oakland, Tim O'Brien of Vacaville, Caesar Massari of Napa and Nicole Massari of Chico; three great grandchildren, Maggie O'Brien, Jackson and Gavin Reaksecker; and sister-in-law, Garnett Hughes of Savannah.
She is preceded in death by husbands, Modesto (Frank) Massari and John P. Reaksecker; brother, Harry B. Hughes of Savannah; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Norman Sommer of Cosby, Missouri.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at Kaiser Permanente, North Bay Adult Day Center and Serene Oaks ll for all of the help and care they provided to our mother and family during her fight with Alzheimer's disease and other health issues.
Interment will be at the Tulocay Cemetery in Napa, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choosing. Memories and words of sympathy may be sent to the family on-line at
