Walter "Pete" J. Denison, 86, was born Oct. 30, 1927 to Blaine and Theda Denison of St. Francis, Kansas. Walter was a SMSGT, (USAF, Ret) and a long-time resident of Vacaville, passed away early Tuesday morning, Nov. 12, at his home with his family by his bedside. Walter was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and an absolute patriot to his country. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Martha J. Denison; son, Col (USAF, Ret) Bradley Denison and wife Marianne of Niceville, FL; daughter, Brenda Nichol of Vacaville, and daughter, Kathy Fleshman and husband Steven, also of Vacaville; six grandchildren, Jason Denison, Brandon, Shane and Tyler Fleshman, all of Vacaville, CA, Kristin and Teresa Denison from Niceville, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of wonderful friends. Walter served for over 26 years in the U.S. Air Force
. He was trained as an air traffic ground radar technician. After a distinguished career in the USAF he joined the civil service ranks, working at Travis Air Force Base in the 1901st Communications Group from 1978 until 1985. In 1985 he transferred to Mare Island to the U.S. Naval Electronic Systems Engineering Center in Vallejo. He retired in 1994. Walter loved watching his grandchildren grow up, having spent countless hours attending baseball games and other activities. He also loved to tease all who came to know him and he loved an occasional trip to the casinos. A celebration of life will be held on Nov. 15 at 2 p.m., at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home, 180 E.
