Donald L. McBride, 72, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, Nov. 27, in his home after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Rocky Ford, Colo., spent his childhood in Oregon and met his adoring wife Kathy, in California in 1957. Don and Kathy made their home in Fairfield and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last December. Don retired from UPS after 25 years and was a manager at STARS Recreation Center in Vacaville, owned by Uncle Ernie Sousa.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; daughters and son-in-laws, Kelly and Tony Garcia of Suisun and Tara and Tony Taitague of Temecula; grandchildren, A.J., Kaili, Kami and Nick; and many more relatives and extended family.
Don was a fun-loving person with a heart bigger than most and a Trouble maker with a capital T, but that's why we all loved him so much. He had a great sense of humor and a dedication to his family that was unsurpassed. He enjoyed life and many parties with his family and friends. Don will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Building Fund, 2700 Dover Avenue, Fairfield, CA 94533. Arrangements by Fairfield Funeral Home, 1750 Pennsylvania Ave., 425-1041, fairfieldfuneral-home.com.

When I was a little kid I thought I was so cool to have big cousin Don take me to the old Vallejo Speedway for Saturday night races or to get up real early in the morning to "help" with the milk route. When I was older, Don had a great way of making you feel good about yourself even when he was giving you a zinger and Jalynne always appreciated how he made her feel part of the family at the big Sousa parties.
Dear Kathy, Kelly, Tara and family
Don will be missed by all who knew him and you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Dearest Kathy and family
Just want all of you to know how sad we were to hear of Don's passing. Many wonderful memories came back about that wild and crazy guy. Amie called us last night and told us. As we talked we laughed and remembered how Don used to always stuff Amie's shoes with paper so when she left they never seemed to fit if Don was around. I know how very much he will be missed by all of you - but what a wonderful legacy he left for all of you - love laughter patience kindess - please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers
