Jim Walbolt, beloved husband, father of three, and grandfather of two, died on May 17, surrounded by his family.
Jim grew up outside of Chicago, Illinois, and attended the University of Iowa (class of 1970), where he was a proud member of the Acacia fraternity. Jim and his wife, Margy, married in 1971, and moved to Calif., where they raised three children. Ed (wife Katrena and daughter Katelyn), Tom (wife Monica and son Paul), and Carrie (husband Ted).
Jim was a well-known business man and a long-time resident of Fairfield who made a variety of contributions to his community. He was a little league coach and soccer coach for the Fairfield Rowdies. He actively participated in the YMCA Indian Guides/Princesses and Boy Scouts of America, and was a member of Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, and served a term as President of the Rancho Solano Homeowners Association. He was also a long-time parishioner of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Spirit Singers for 15 years.
Jim was a special man who embraced all life had to offer and exemplified patience, friendship, and unconditional love. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Sunday, May 20, followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m., and a funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 21, at 11 a.m., all at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in memory of Jim Walbolt to NorthBay Healthcare Foundation, 4500 Business Center Drive, Fairfield, CA 94534. All donations will benefit neurosurgery services at NorthBay. Arrangements entrusted to Bryan Braker Funeral Home, www.bryanbraker.com
